Quentin Blazey Just when I thought they couldn't blow me away anymore than they already have, they follow up with a mind-melting glitchy wonky record. I'm astonished and impressed! Favorite track: Giant Bittersweet.

pharmakon121121 The use of negative sonic space in this project is really inspiring. This feels like a melancholic take on SOPHIE's Product-era production style, which is the highest of compliments I can give. This is one of DDS' best records by far imo, it's extremely consistent, has plenty of inspired composition and production, and the album art is astounding as well. Favorite track: Turn It Up.

about

When I would tour the US as Giant Claw, I would stay with friends across the country and spend a few extra days hanging out and recording music. This is how me and James made Evangelis and I’ll Try Living Like This, but during that period I also stopped several times in Alabama to record with the artist Holly Waxwing.

The majority of this mixtape was made during those sessions, where we explored mixing stark textural sounds (mostly made with the Ableton FM synth Operator) with lots of bass and synthesized percussion, vocal samples, and a sense of both abrasive and bittersweet pop energy.

In the following years for whatever reason we never managed to finish the recordings in a satisfying way, so I’ve taken this opportunity to revisit the material, add new elements and finally call it done.
